井伏鱒二の小説『黒い雨』を映画化した名作。原爆による黒い雨を浴びたために人生を狂わせられてしまった女性と、それを暖かく見守る叔父夫婦とのふれあいを描いた作品。日本人なら必ず見ておかねばならないだろう日本映画の傑作。1989年 今村昌平監督作品、カンヌ国際映画祭、日本アカデミーグランプリ受賞作品。
今回は今村プロダクション特別提供による１６ミリ・ワイドスクリーン版での上映。
映画の撮影は岡山県備前市、八塔寺ふるさと村で行われた。戦後間もない風景を再現するために、古い家屋や看板、郵便ポストなどが残り、アジサイの美しい、この地が監督によって選ばれた。

A Japanese legend director, Imamura Shohei, a two-time Cannne Palm d’or winner whom Martin Scorsese called “my master,” created this black and white film based on a novel by Ibuse Masuji. The film draws aftermath of the Hiroshima atomic bomb and the life of Yasuko and her family’s struggle caused by the fall of radioactive “black rain.”
The film was shot in Bizen city, Okayama prefecture.
This special screening will be on 16mm vista-size (wide-screen) presented by Imamura Production.
