Tomomichi Nakamura, Japan, 13min, 2014, digital, color, 2D animation drama.<br \/>\n<em>(This short film will be shown with &#8220;June Bride&#8221;)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A girl wanted a change in her bland and uninteresting daily routine. She keeps a bird as a pet to create some\u00a0change, and finds herself dreaming of having a child with it. The child of a bird and a woman is called a \u201cmock-angel\u201d and is angelic in appearance, but\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Line of sight, and the circumstances in which a person is placed, sometimes make that person ask themselves what an \u201cindividual\u201d is. In the midst of this interrogation they stare straight at themselves, and sometimes they reject or change themselves, and sometimes they give up. (from \u201cImage Forum Film Festival catalog)<\/p>\n<p>Mock Angel is the newest work by Tomomichi Nakamura, an animation artist from Okayama all of whose early work\u00a0UPAF has recognized and screened. His past films have been screened at the Image Forum Film Festival, Oberhausen, and the\u00a0Okayama Film Festival. And Mock Angel has been selected for the International Competition at the Tampere Film Festival (Finland), Image Forum Film Festival, and won Second Prize at the\u00a0Okayama Art and Cultural Award. Three works including this film will open theatrically at the Tollywood Theatre for Short Films in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo this August! Mr. Nakamura has also\u00a0been helping us by taking amazing photos at\u00a0past UPAF screenings.
