Why I made Finding Pablo<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unsatisfied with many of the depictions of race and violence in the mainstream media, I want Finding Pablo to not merely complicate the representations of race and violence but pose questions on the ethical responsibility that artists have towards their environments. As a Mexican-American living in the predominately black neighborhood of Harlem I knew that in order to truly depict Harlem and it’s people on video I have to recognize my distance from them. Finding Pablo is my quest to understand this distance, to measure it in a way, and to encourage the audience to have love and compassion for the movie’s people.<\/p>\n
