Would you like to volunteer at UPAF? We are looking for volunteers in the following areas in each UPAF year:
- English-to-Japanese film translation (can be done remotely, May to August)
- Subtitling (Only if you have and know how to use FCP or Adobe Premiere. Can be done remotely. June to July/August)
- Flyer and poster distribution (residents of Tamano, Okayama, Kurashiki, and Takamatsu, July to August)
- Crowd control & venue setup staff (if you live nearby or if you can come by your own means, and can volunteer at least for 2 days during UPAF)
- Ticket booth/registration staff (if you live nearby or if you can come by your own means, and can volunteer at least for 2 days during UPAF)
- Interpreting volunteer during UPAF (When we have very few guests who don’t understand Japanese, we ask bilingual volunteer staff to interpret the Q&A personally by whispering. The host will interpret otherwise) (if you live nearby or if you can come by your own means, and can volunteer at least for 2 days during UPAF)
- Japanese sign language interpreter (if you live nearby or if you can come by your own means, and can volunteer even for 1 day during UPAF)
- Writers who want to write about the films screened at UPAF (if you live nearby or if you can come by your own means, and can volunteer at least for 2 days during UPAF). We will feature the good pieces on this website!
The reasons for volunteering can be anything like…
– I’m interested in how a film festival is run.
– I love films!
– I want to make Japanese friends.
– I love events!
– I want to contribute to the town and the local community.
– I want to experience Uno, a town where things are happening.
Please email to info@unoportartfilms.org if you’re interested. As a UPAF Volunteer, you get to watch UPAF films for free even on the days you don’t volunteer.
