The women prisoners from different regions in Mexico with the illiteracy rate closer to 80 percent, because they spoke different languages, they could not communicate with each other in the prison. Having learned a common language together in the rehabilitation programs of prison, they exchange letters after release from prison. These women, who found their voice toward the world, reflect the painful past memories of their being excluded from society with emotion in their writing. Director Bio: Carolina Corral earned a PhD in Visual Anthropology. After long years of academic endeavours, she decided to become an independent filmmaker. In 2015, she was awarded the Jóvenes Creadores (young creatives) scholarship from Mexico’s National Fund for Culture and the Arts. Her short film SEMILLAS DE GUAMÚCHIL was named Best Documentary at FICUNACH 2016 and LA BATALLA won third place at the Ecofilm Festival 2016.
