マーサ・ロスラーの『 キッチンの記号論 』（1975、台所用品の使い方の実演を通して主婦のうっぷんをユーモラスに表現したフェミニスト実験映画）にヒントを得、パキスタン系アメリカ人監督が、身の回りのものをアラビア語で呼ぶそのシンプルなパフォーマンスで、西洋メディアが描くイスラムのイメージに疑問提起。日本初公開。
Director Bio:
Fouzia Najar is a Kashmiri-American filmmaker from Buffalo, NY. She earned an MFA in Integrated Media Arts from Hunter College, and before that, studied history and media at Carleton College. She has worked for award-winning production companies Kartemquin Films, ABC News and Jigsaw Productions, and her work has aired on such networks as The Weather Channel and CNN. Fouzia most recently worked on a documentary series that examines the death penalty in America and co-founded Diverse Filmmakers Alliance, a media collective dedicated to ethical practices and representation in storytelling.
